The quick comparison
| Material | Best for | Heat resistance | Relative cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLA | Models, decor, prototypes | Low | Lowest |
| PETG | Functional parts, outdoor use | Medium | Low |
| ABS | Car interiors, tough housings | High | Low |
| TPU | Flexible grips, seals, bumpers | Medium | Medium |
| Nylon-CF | Stiff, load-bearing parts | High | Highest |
PLA: the default for looks and speed
PLA prints with sharp detail and comes in the widest range of colours. It is perfect for display models, gifts, architectural pieces and early prototypes. Avoid it for parts left in a hot car or under heavy load.
PETG: tough and weather-friendly
PETG handles impact and moisture better than PLA and copes with Kenyan sun outdoors. It is our go-to for brackets, enclosures and everyday functional parts.
ABS: when heat is the problem
ABS keeps its shape at higher temperatures, which makes it a good choice for vehicle interior parts and housings near motors or electronics.
TPU: when the part needs to bend
TPU is rubber-like. Use it for phone cases, grips, gaskets, bumpers and anything that has to flex without breaking.
Nylon-CF: engineering strength
Carbon-fibre filled nylon is stiff, strong and heat resistant. It costs more, so we reserve it for parts that carry real load, such as machine brackets and jigs.
